WinLame won't do what he would like to do.
Because the YouTube file will be a video, and he wants to convert that to
an MP3, so I sent him the YouTube MP3 converter, which will convert the
video while it's downloading all at the same time.

Something's wrong there, definitely. Try a program called WinLame. It's a
wizard interface, which steps you through each option. It's quite good
for something like this, especially when converting a whole batch of
files.
