I am getting sick and tired of people comparing these two services. At its core, Last.fm is a recommendations engine. It takes note of what you listen to and then suggests other artists, albums or tracks that you might enjoy. In that respect, it is similar to Pandora. It is not at all similar to Spotify, which is a music streaming service first and formost. Yes, you might be able to listen to music through Last.fm, but can you listen to a band's entire discography? Can you create a playlist of your favourite country artists or tracks? No, because that is not what it is designed to do, a point driven home by the fact that Last.fm streams are only in 128Kbps MP3.
Sorry if this message seems harsh, but comparing the accessibility of two services which have completely different intended functions is rather misleading. - James Scholes http://twitter.com/JamesScholes To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [email protected]
