Yep points taken, the time considerations you outlined in your post below is another reason why I recommended Goldwave etc, I don't have all day to play either and - generally speaking - the noise reduction in Goldwave and the plugin for Total Recorder do a very reasonable job without having to spend too much time to configure the operation or whatever.
