FS just used the name MS uses for this type of control. Visually, the button is split in half, if you click on the left hand side, or use the space or enter bar, then the default action will be executed. If you click on the right hand side of the button or use the right arrow key then the submenu will come up. Neither drop down or closed seem like they'd capture the dual nature of this button.
