I see no check box; I see "combo box" so I open it, arrow to "Windows Default" go to "Okay and..nothing; STILL NO WINDOWS SOUNDS!

Are you getting other sounds through your computer via the same sound card
that the MS default sound scheme uses? Again, I no longer use XP, but I
think if you tab through the Sounds options in the control panel, you'll
come across at least one checkbox for mute. Naturally, you want it
unchecked.

Hello again list: I talked with someone who was nice enough to try and help me get my Windows Sounds back; although we tried the usual steps: Sounds and
Audios, then Windows Default; we even tried a system restore..no soap!  I
still do not hear my windows sounds!  Am frustrated; could it be that it's
something I'm just going to have to live with (or more appropriately "live
without) until I get a new computer?  I surely hope not!
