Hello Chris and list: Well maybe I've gotten it solved now (I am aware that
if Total Recorder is running; let's say I'm recording something, then the
Windows sounds are gone) but in the past, once I had closed out TR, the
sounds were back! But in the past couple of weeks, I find that even when I
closed out of Total Recorder, it seemed to be running in the background for
some reason! Then, even after I killed it in the task manager, I'd have to
fish around and figure out how to get those sounds back! Well the latest is
that I now am running Total Recorder 8.4 (I think that's the version) and so
far, it hasn't bothered me! Just to clarify something: during the past few
weeks when I began to have this problem, all I'd have to do is merely bring
up Total Recorder"..and the sounds would be gone (I don't think that this
was the case before) I'm talking about even if I didn't have Total Recorder
doing anything! But maybe since I now have updated TR, am hoping this won't
be an issue anymore! Thanks to all who have followed this thread and hope I
haven't tried anyone's patience!

Actually Total Recorder disables system sounds by default. You can tell it
not to do so by going to options, settings, and it's the first check box
in the general category.
