sound card and soundforge question

hello friends, i have just had a new sound card installed on my desktop, i'm 
using sound forge seven, jaws 11 and windows seven, i also have the "line 
in"  and speakers in the correct places, however, when i go in to sound 
forge to record i get zilch, nothing, i'm using a beringer mixer i can play 
music files in sound forge but not record, now i know i have something 
either not switched on, but where to look, it's so long since i've set this 
up that i can't remember where to go to get everything up and running for 
recording, any help will be really appreciated, take care, god bless, travel
