Hello everyone. Sorry for a rather newbie-ish question, but I've become pretty
stumped.

I have a Soundblaster X-fi audio card, and Windows XP. Pretty old setup, but it
has worked fine for me most of the time. I have recorded stuff before and used
Skype for the occasional audio call (very infrequently, though), and I know
I've gotten it to work. Well, today I tried to call someone using the Skype
service, and although my mic is on and I can hear my own voice through the
headphones, nothing is being broadcast. Tried the sound test on Skype, and even
went into goldwave to attempt to record a test file. No voice coming through.
Checked mic settings in windows control and they seem ok, although strangely,
the box that seems to apply to this micophone jack is "line in 2/mic 2", and
not "mic 1"...I don't have another mic, and I seem to remember this always
being the case anyway. When I check the mute box for "mic 2" I don't hear a
thing; unchecking it gives me mic pickup in my ears. So, it seems to me that
the jack is basically working, but somehow it isn't being recognised as
an input device or something like that.
Any ideas? I'm most perplexed at the moment.
Thanks folks.
