This is a damn good read.

Its most likely that those using Bluetooth devices are using Bluetooth 2.0 or 
2.1 standard which is okay but doesn't have a very wide band width thus audio 
may sound muddy at times depending on the application the device is being used 
for.

I've been using Bluetooth 3.0 and 4.0 devices here for some time, the Senheiser 
MM500 headphones are Bluetooth 4.0 and they're amongst the best sounding 
headphones I've ever used.

So I thought Bluetooth 4.0 was good and things couldn't be improved upon until 
I stumbled across the following article which brings us up to date on what's to 
come in the Bluetooth story in the very near future.
