Audible has an IOS app. I use it on my iPhone, and I suspect there's iPad compatibility as well.
I can only speak for what I use, and have need for, but I believe Audible supports third party devices like Plextalk, Victor Reader, Book Sense, etc. The following link should list devices in the "other" category supported by Audible. Find the combo box on that page which lists venders. You'll see the likes of HIMS, Humanare, APH, and others listed.
