Hi!

Has anyone purchased one of these radio sets in recent times?

I purchased 2 3 years ago and - whilst they performed reasonably well - I was disappointed.

The radio is cheaply built, what this mean was that the buttons could easily break as they did in the case of the 2 units I had, the buttons were meerly shafts in the front of the case which pushed down on actual switches on the radios circuit board.

Secondly, there seemed to be a problem with a rool-off of sensitivity on the AM band when you started tuning below 600KHZ, I thought this might be a problem with only one set but both the CC SW sets I had exhibited the same behaviour and others have reported this problem.

I gave up trying to use the memory system of the CC SW, only one button to navigate the whole memory system, that's a clear indication that the user would have no idea of where they were.

And finally there was quite a bit of processor noise present when scanning the SW Bands.

Apart from all that the CC SW gave excellent sound and would have still been a desirable choice had my 2 sets lasted.

So why am I bringing up the topic again? There is evidence around to suggest that subtle changes have been made to the CC SW radio so I'm tempted to buy another and see how I go and how much truth is in the rumour of change, the radio is around $150 as I understand it.

I recorded a review on the CC SW back in 2011 which I can again make available if anyone is interested, the review was put onto the Blind Kool Tech web site, that site is no longer functioning.
