The following review will be of interest to those living outside the U.S.

When i first removed the radio from out of the box I knew that - once again - I had a "Statement of Quality" in my hand,.

The Radio is made from a completely wooden cabinet though the radio takes up a very small footprint - Tivoli Audio themselves tell us that the Model 10+ is indeed the smallest tabletop radio the company have ever made, - small it may be but its packed inside and I'll get to that shortly.

The front looks almost too ordinary and utterly unremarkable, we find the full range 3.5 inch speaker which is capable of filling an average sized room with sound, above which is the very big and easy to read screen which displays the clock, information about the radio, the station you're tuned to, scrolling text and so on.

On the top of the radio is the standard Tivoli Jog-Dial which is easily identifiable by its braille looking dots around the edge.

So where are the 5 preset buttons the brochure for the radio talks about? Strangely there found on the back of the radio above the connection sockets and behind the telescopic whip antenna and they're almost lost to the touch given the size of the buttons, thank Goodness for the excellent remote controller this radio is supplied with.

The bass port takes up much of the top space at the back of the radio, then the preset buttons, the telescopic antenna and a panel of connecting sockets.

The telescopic antenna can be removed and replaced with a better outdoor antenna if one is available, the antenna connects to the radio via a F connector.

The connections offered by the Model 10 Plus radio are an interesting assortment though nothing less than what you'd expect on a Tivoli Audio System. a 12V DC jack can be found along with a sub-woofer out, line-out and connection for another matching Tivoli speaker for stereo sound but 2 line-in sockets, wha'ts going on?

Put simply the 2 line-in connections work in slightly different ways, the first allows for a "Mix" of sound - a mix between whatever source is playing - say DAB+ Radio - and a line-in source. The second connection is an exclusive line in facility that has to be switched to by use of the remote controller or jog-dial.

Having had the radio for a few days now I can fully appreciate where the designers at Tivoli Audio were coming from when they included a "Line-in Mix" facility so let's take a practical example.

Suppose you decide to use the Tivoli Audio Model 10 Plus Radio as a computer speaker and why wouldn't you given its excellent sound. you could connect the output of your computer to the "Line-IN Mix" and hear what your computer is doing whilst listening to background music from the DAB+ radio or any other source, simple but yet very affective.

The remote controller unit is straight forward and too the point, all the buttons are logically laid out and there are few of them.

The Radio works extremely well as an alarm clock though you may need sighted assistance to set the alarm.

The sleep timer is easily set, pressing the sleep timer button repeatedly advances the time by 15 minutes.

The Station presets are easy to set, tune to the station you wish to save in a preset and hold the appropriate preset button down for 5 seconds, ppress the preset button to recall the station.

The radio has a well laid out menu system and you can see how the menu is arranged in the back part of the manual though the menu can only be accessed with the use of the remote controller unit so make sure you don't lose it.

The menu is where much of the control for the radio can be found: bass, treble, loudness, EQ settings, display settings and so on.

I've ordered the matching speaker and can't wait until it arrives given I know what the radio already sounds like through one speaker. I'm considering the purchase of the sub-woofer but to be honest, the radio certainly has enough bass as is for my liking.

The Tivoli Audio Model 10 Plus stands proud and very handsome on its 4 round rubber feet taking up little space and sounding much bigger than it actually is.
