I have several Harmony remotes and while they are easy to use if you get one of the non-touch screen models, their Windows app for setting up the remote has recently become totally unusable. They used to have a web site where one could accessibly setup one's remote but the last time I tried it, it also was inaccessible. For this reason if I were you I would purchase your Harmony remote from somewhere where you can return it if you also find it to be inaccessible.
I used to be able to go to www.myremotesetup.com and set things up but it now hands off everything to the inaccessible Windows app. Best regards, Rick Alfaro -----Original Message----- From: Pc-audio [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dane Trethowan Sent: Friday, May 15, 2015 5:22 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Universal Remote Controls Hi! Does anyone have one of these tools? I've been using my Samsung Note4 as a replacement remote for my Yamaha RXV520 Surround-Sound Receiver in the Den and - whilst the Note4's built-in Remote controller App does a good job - I want to get a separate remote controller unit. As the Yamaha receiver is over ten years old I doubt whether Yamaha would sell me a new replacement remote controller for the Receiver so I thought that a Universal remote - programmed in the correct way - might be the next best thing. I've done a little searching and it seems that the market is dominated in this area by the Logitech Harmony remotes so perhaps that might be the way to go unless anyone else has any suggestions for other devices I may look at? -- ********** Those who need help are those who are prepared to help themselves
