I wouldn't imagine the audio quality from the Headphone socket of
iPhone, iPod or iPad would be what one would call the best quality from
a headphones socket, certainly the quality from the headphone socket on
my iPad Mini 4 and iPhone 6 leave a lot to be desired, thank Goodness
for my Arcam and Oppo DAC'S when I'm listening to music.
Having said all that of course, the iPhone and iPad are certainly not
designed as dedicated music players so perhaps the headphone socket
strikes a good compremise, I'd nod my head in absolute agreement with
the words I've just written if it weren't for the fact that - compared
to all IOS devices I've tried - the haudio output from the Samsung
Galaxy Note4 and S6 phones is far better than anything I've heard from
Apple except for some of Apples earlier iPod Nano offerings which were
bloody good for what they were.

I have another question regarding this.
Does the ipad and the iphone use the same DAC? Therefore would the sound
quality from the headphone socket of the ipad be the same as that of the iphone?

Subject: iPad Audio
Hi!
Interested in thoughts of others regarding iPad audio.
The last full-sized iPad I owned was the iPad 3 and I had this device around 3
years ago I think it was.
Anyway I didn't keep the device for long as I didn't much care for the audio of
the speaker.
I now have an iPad Mini and the audio is truly divine if I dare say so myself
and I doubt whether there are too many tablets around the size of the iPad that
would exhibit such good quality audio from stereo internal speakers.
So I'm wondering about the audio of the full-sized iPad 4, is it as good as or
better than that found on the iPad Mini 4 or is it about the same as found on
the iPad 3.
