Hi!
I've had one of these radios for nearly 3 years and I'm always
discovering new features and functions, one of these is the "Calibrate"
function that calibrates the radio for Medium-Wave reception. so I'll do
my best to explain what the calibrate feature does and how to use it.
To activate the calibrate function the user has to hold down the
"Time/Frequency" display toggle button - the top right most button in
the square of 4 round buttons on the front right -, hold down the button
till you hear the radio beep and then press again to start the
calibration process, takes around 5 minutes to complete.
The radio then starts from the bottom end of the Medium-Wave band and
works its way to the top optimising every frequency on the band, when
the radio reaches the top the calibration function returns the radio to
normal mode and the radio returns to 520KHZ.
Its best to use the calibration feature in the middle of the night when
the weakest signals can be heard and to avoid places of interference and
noise - in my case I turn the power off at the mains -.
Also be sure to angle the radio in an optimal direction for received
signals.
The calibration sure makes one hell of a difference and I hope that
other Sangean radio sets will incorporate the function.
