Is this a special problem with the UTF-patch? I did think, that a patch installs fine even with missing other packages.
Yes, a patch for packages A, B and C will install fine as long as at least one of the packages is installed. But in your case patch 121734-08 requires some other patches, and you have none of the packages patched by these required patches on your system. So the requirements can't be installed and installation of 121734-08 fails.
The root cause for that IMHO is that Sun doesn't test patches on minimized systems, and sometimes requirements might be set which probably aren't really necessary (I can't say anything about this special case, though).
There's no simple solution for your problem. You could check the list of packages patched by the required patches (119059-24, 119278-13, 124393-03) and install at least one of the packages for each patch. Then the patches can be applied, too, and the prerequisites for 121734-08 will be fulfilled. Or you could simply ignore 121734-08, if the fix isn't important to you anyway.
