Sunday, October 6
-----------------
The divisions switched fleets on Sunday morning. Everyone was sent out
in a dying NNE breeze with the hope of getting a set in but it was not
meant to be. After waiting for 45 minutes everyone was sent in for an
early lunch break. A light but unsteady easterly started to fill in
around 12:15 and the fleets were sent back out to a course that was
set up south of Jacob’s Rock. With a strong ebb and wind ranging
from 3-8 knots from the ESE, four more races were sailed in each
division. Challenging conditions for sailors and race management
alike. There were a few general recalls, one protest heard resulting
in a DSQ and no breakdowns.
Thanks to the Coast Guard cadets led by 1/c Brad Milliken for running
the races, helping out on the docks and managing the sailing center.
Also, thank you to ICSA Rep. Jeff Bresnahan! Congratulations to the
Yale Bulldogs that led the regatta wire to wire and winning the 2013
Danmark Trophy by 19 points.
