Hi all – thanks to the generosity of the San Diego Yacht Club, and the
expression of interest by many of you, *we are ON* for an advanced match
racing clinic, Thursday and Friday, January 8 and 9, immediately prior to
the first California Dreamin Series that weekend at the SDYC in their
J/22’s.

Please read this email, and then *REPLY TO **[email protected]* with
the following information:

1) whether or not you will be participating in any portion of the clinic as
outlined below.

2) if not participating in the full clinic (beginning Thursday, January 8th
at 10:00am), then what portions of the clinic you think you will be
participating in.

3) whether you will have your full team, or if not, how many of your crew
will be with you on either of the days you will be participating.

*Cost*
There will be no cost to you for the use of the boats or my coaching. You
will be asked to set up your damage deposit, as you will have to for the
regatta anyways, and to arrange for your own food and drink. That’s it!

*Clinic Goals/Focus*
As I laid out in my November 23, 2014, email to you, my goal is to provide
advanced coaching, discussions, drilling and video analysis of the tactics
in the Prestart and Killing a Penalty. The focus will be on developing a
playbook and then going out and practicing the different moves in a
controlled situation with ample repetition so you can become lethal on
command.

*Schedule*

*Thursday, January 8*
10:00-noon - I will discuss Prestart tactics and analyze video from the
World Match Race Tour and other events with whomever is there.
noon-1:30 – lunch and launch/rig boats
1:30 – describe the on-water training plan
2:00 – off dock for on-water training session
~5:30 – on dock
6:00 – dinner (maybe we can organize something and all eat together)
6:45 – Video analysis of the afternoon training session
9:00 – end day

*Friday, January 9*
9:00 – discussion, playbook and land drills for Killing Penalties
11:30 – rig up and lunch *(and registration and crew weighing)*
12:30 – describe the on-water training session
1:00 – off dock for on-water training session, which will include racing
~5:30 – on dock *(and registration and crew weighing)*
6:00 – dinner (maybe we can organize something and all eat together)
6:45 – Video analysis of the afternoon training session
8:30 – end day

*Participants*
You do NOT need to have your full team to participate in the clinic. Though
preferred, it may not be possible. We will organize the participants at any
given time to the best benefit of all the participants there at that time.

The clinic is open to all sailors who are participating in any of the three
California Dreamin Series regattas. If you know of some match racers who
are NOT sailing in the California Dreamin series but would like to do the
clinic, *have them send me an email indicating their interest*, their match
racing background, and what portions of the clinic they wish to participate
in.

*Clinic Preparation*
I strongly suggest you get a copy of the Match Racing Playbook I wrote and
North U sells, second edition (with me just completing a fake double gybe
on the cover), and read through it before the clinic; in particular the
sections on Prestarts and Killing Penalties. You can get a copy from North
U at www.northu.com > All Things Match Racing.

Any questions, etc., just send me an email.
