Blaine ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Greg Wilkinson <gcw...@gmail.com> Date: Mon, Jan 25, 2021 at 6:59 AM Subject: Important - Update From College Sailing Medical Advisory Panel, Testing Protocols To: Mike Kalin <mka...@mit.edu>, Michael Kalin <laserka...@gmail.com>, Michael Callahan <mick.calla...@gmail.com>, Dana Magliola < dana.magli...@gmail.com>, MCSA Commissioner < mcsacommissio...@collegesailing.org>, Blaine Pedlow <bped...@gmail.com>, Charles Higgins <chiggi...@tulane.edu>, Geoff Pedrick < geoff.pedr...@gmail.com> Cc: Brindley, Mitchell <mbrin...@odu.edu>, Ian Burman <bur...@usna.edu>, Greg Fisher <g...@gregfishersailing.com>, Danielle Richards < intersection...@collegesailing.org>, Thomas Donahue < tdona...@collegesailing.org> Conference Commissioners: Our Medical Advisory Panel has concluded their work and a Medical Guidance and an Attestation Form are being written this week. This is a summary of what to expect as *minimum requirements for all interconference and National Championship regattas this spring. *It is also possible that the Executive Committee and/or Board will require these protocols for all regattas. These protocols are in addition to the required Declaration of Adherence form, authorizing teams to compete. The Attestation Form will need to be completed by* all teams prior to every event*. It will require sign-off by a University official - very similar to the Declaration of Adherence. 1) Sailing has been deemed a "low risk" sport in terms of transmission between teams at competitions 2) Events must be run with no unmasked 6' contact with competitors for any length of time - requires mask use at all times including while sailing; the elimination of skippers meetings, live protest hearings, group rigging/de-rigging, group coaching at docks or coach boats, awards ceremonies, all social events, etc 3) 2 PCR tests will be required for all competitors and coaches (full travel party) for 1 or 2-day competitions - a pre-event test 72 hours prior to start of competition and a post event test within one business day of end of competition. 4) For a 4-day event (Coed & TR Nationals if sailed back to back), 2 antigen tests will be required. One on the evening of Day 2 and another on the morning of Day 3. A positive on either test will require a PCR confirmation and quarantine of all team members until PCR is returned negative - likely 36-48 hours (making it unlikely the team would be able to compete in the second event). 5) The Medical Advisory Panel will be meeting bi-weekly to keep the protocols current based on up to date CDC and medical best practices.
