The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta (GLIOR) is an annual regatta held in Chicago in partnership with The Columbia Yacht Club and The Storm Trysail Club. The GLIOR provides an opportunity for collegiate sailors to experience the excitement of offshore keel-boat racing. Participating teams come from college sailing programs in the Midwest and beyond. Chicago T10, Chicago J105, and other fleet members provide the sailboats and are on board during racing as a safety precaution; the collegiate sailors drive, crew the boat and manage strategy and tactics. The regatta typically consists of one day of practice (Friday afternoon) and two days of windward/leeward buoy races on Lake Michigan. This year the GLIOR will be held from Friday, September 23 to Sunday, September 25.
