Hello College Sailing, I hope that fall has gotten off to a great start! Below are several important updates and reminders of what TIDE has been working on.
Each year new, important voices and perspectives join the sailing community. If you are a current college sailor passionate about inclusivity, diversity, and equity work, please see below for information about how to get involved with DEI initiatives in your conference. Additional or general inquiries can be sent to [email protected]. ICSA TIDE Projects This fall, ICSA TIDE will be continuing work on several projects that include: - Land Acknowledgment Recommendations - Coach Involvement - TIDE views coaches as an essential element of team culture and is dedicated to working with them to integrate TIDE programs efficiently into their teams. - Coach Involvement shared a survey <https://forms.gle/CJRoAj7mqc94mLw6A> recently and would appreciate responses from coaches who have not filled it out. - Reorganization and Updates of Resources We are also excited to continue two projects: - Media - Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Policy - In June, “Gender Inclusivity and Resource List for College Sailing Teams <https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSpTcy9bQrT_G95NIexJKjVPer3gycKfo5hCfSIDmhNVxdHRnPFuMbqt-LDD8_8CRZdZ2kVr8Axf4sJ/pub>” was shared via the listserv. - We recommend familiarizing oneself with this document and the verbiage provided to be confident with guidelines and policies and more equipped to support gender diversity within your team. Drafting of the second edition of the Culture and Demographic Survey has begun and will be shared this upcoming year. Media - TIDE believes that media plays an important role in college sailing by connecting current sailors and by introducing future sailors to college sailing. We actively use our media platforms to share resources we’ve made, projects we’re proud of, and to emphasize important moments in college sailing. - Connect with @icsa.tide on Instagram Conference TIDE NEISA - The Education Program for Fall 2022 will be coming soon! - Please reach out to Izzy Cox, NEISA TIDE Chair, at [email protected] with any questions, comments, or new representatives.
