Greetings Dr. Kipling, Daniel George and Darren Fong suggested I contact you about an exciting event currently being planned. The National Geographic Society (NGS) and the National Park Service (NPS) are teaming up to conduct a BioBlitz in the Golden Gate National Parks (including the 460 acre Giacomini Wetlands on Tomales Bay) on March 28–29, 2014. BioBlitz is an all-taxa species inventory in which teams of volunteers, each led by an expert scientist, find and identify as many species as possible within a 24-hour period. We are currently recruiting field biologists and naturalists to participate in the Golden Gate BioBlitz, and we invite you to join us! Researchers may survey on their own or lead a group of amateur naturalists (preferred) that we will recruit and match with a leader. We are excited to request your help in documenting the Parks’ biodiversity and in sharing your knowledge about and enthusiasm for nature with the public. If you are interested, please register at http://ggnpc.convio.net/bioblitz -scientist as soon as possible (ideally before January 31) to ensure your preferred inventory locations are still available and so that we can best match you with specific field sites and inventory programs. We will be in touch with you again in the coming weeks to confirm your participation and inventory details. If you have colleagues interested in participating, please share the registration link or have them contact me for further details.
