A dell Pentium II 266 and it works pretty good and runs KaZaA but I have 2 children. I actually have 3 computers 2 Macs (sig) and 1 PC all routed on a DSL line which we are all happily going on the internet whenever we wish. Except now, they fight over the PC. But luckily someone mentioned the http://gnutella.wego.com/ gnutella network using LimeWire for Mac and I have to say this is very good. I don't know if KaZaA resumes downloads like LimeWire, as the kid's use it, I don't. I actually had a total freeze on My Mac and had to restart and when I launched LimeWorks it automatically resumed downloading where it left off. I'm always happy when there is a Mac solution; although I don't mind using the PC, as I'm interested in the "computer" above all and don't mind learning about other solutions. But I am a Mac Addict and admit it. It's interesting too because the music industry just went after Napster but all of sudden the cat is out of the bag and there are all these Napsters running around and better. I doubt that their bully approach will work in the long run. How are they going to fight all these individual companies not to mention the real bad boy Hotline client? They can't touch Hotline because it is self contained. They would have to go after all the servers, as Hotline is like owning a Gun; it's what you do with it that matters. Not that I don't understand their problems but I am sorry, I am not sympathetic with the music industry. They charge entirely too much for CD's. They are just as greedy as all the people who want free music. And there's this concept about the whole music business , and the software industry as well that I'm not sure is right. They are too greedy. They want the fast buck and continually gouge the public. I see artists and craftsmen laboring for hours on beautiful hand made things and not able to make alot of money because they can't stamp them out. A musicians thinks that he writes and song and he is to be able to just sit back and make money over it forever, rather than going out to the public and working, singing which he may do as well. I not so sure that you can depend on making alot of money out of just the song. In a way, the song is like advertisement for you; But that is my opinion. It obviously isn't shared. Although I am in favor of copywrite laws and don't believe people should be able to just out right copy people and make money out of it and so I am against pirating in that sense which I believe is the real pirating. But in any case, the whole software and music industry will have to rethink a new stradegy as the cat is out of the bag and no turning back now. >You can buy a 1 gig Compaq with a 17 inch monitor for less than $900 (I saw >the commercial last night) or even an iMac (also less than $900).
