hello memory experts -- I listen attentively, and learn quickly, so I was wondering if someone could help out a newbie to the memory subject. Is there any harm in putting G4 memory (168 pin SDRAM DIMMs, 8 byte, non-parity, 3.3-volt, unbuffered, PC-133) in a Beige G3 (168-pin DIMMs 3.3 volt (V), unbuffered, 64-bit wide SDRAM)? I realize there is a height issue, but if it physically fits does this work? Is there a chance the memory will be slowed by the system bus or the motherboard design? If mixed with an original PC-66 chip, but all at 10ns, should the memory work together, or should I expect constant problems? I understand that speed and voltage need to match, but I've been unable to find anything about putting faster memory in a slower machine. Why do this? I'm looking at eventual upgrades - OS X, faster CPU, or even a new machine - and I'm trying to determine any downside to installing the faster RAM. Thank you all for your help.
