If any of you folks remember, back in 1984 or so, Sony sold a line of
component TVs called "Profeel". There was a 19 and a 25 inch model, and the
tuner and speakers were separate items. Wonderful monitors, and I still have
the 25". On the back of this monitor is a multipin RGB connector. It is a
34-pin socket. The manual (the old ones were the best) gives the pin
descriptions, and sample assignments for connecting RGB signals, and either
H and V sync signals, or a composite sync signal. (They provided a male
connector, unwired, as part of the package, but it has long been lost.
So, have any of you ever played with such a monitor? Is it worth even trying
to use it with the computer? The manual does not give the resolution of the
monitor. And if it's worth it, which are the corresponding pins on the Apple
monitor plug (or, where do I find this info)? Am I correct to assume that to
use a monitor this big I would need more than the 4 Megs of video RAM, and
would have to buy a video card? I would power this either from my 8600/300
or the Starmax3000/200.
TIA
Kim
