Jumper/s needs to be configured.  On the drive locate the block (3 
pairs) of jumper pins for setting SCSI ID.  These pairs of pins are 
usually numbered A0-A1-A2 (this does depend on the drive). 
Presumably you already know where the jumper block is on your drive. 
If all you have in the machine is the stock HD and a CD-ROM drive 
(these would normally be ID=0 and ID=3 the Mac itself is ID=7), then 
you can safely set the ID to 1 or 2 for this extra drive.

For ID=1, jumper the A0 pins.
For ID=2, jumper the A1 pins.

Look on the drive, you may see a jumper diagram and that should also 
give you an idea of where to locate the jumper block on your drive.
