weird... i put in a performa 64mb ram, and my 9600 was using 23mb for the OS (8.6). when i took out that chip, it reduced OS ram needs to 20.2, and i had added extensions (rewire, rebirth, reason) in the interim, so it is a significant difference more, prolly like 4-5 mb difference running less ram -- when the ram removed is the slower and older kind. a newer 128mb chip is arriving today or tomorrow. i'll complete my test then! for people's reference: i am now clocking the xlr8 carrier zif with a g3/400 mhz to a bus speed of 57 mhz, and the cpu temp has not changed at all since i put the cpu upgrade in. it's still around 38-44 degrees, usually 40 degrees. gauge pro says it is 38 degrees. vora -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
