Apple announced Tuesday that CEO Steve Jobs will keynote the opening of Apple
Expo 2001 in Paris.

Steve Jobs will be heading up the opening keynote at the Palais des
Congres in
Paris. Apple Expo 2001 will be held at the Paris Expo in Porte de Versailles,
September 26-30.

Most unusual for a SteveNote, Apple has telegraphed some of its content.
Usually shrouded in secrecy, the Apple Expo looks to resemble much of the
Macworld Expo in New York. Apple has announced that no new hardware will be
announced at the show. Instead, Jobs looks to recap much of Apple recent
announcements.

"My keynote will focus on Mac OS X v10.1, the super-fast new version of
Mac OS
X, and our revolutionary new iDVD 2 software, which lets users create their
own custom DVDs that can be played on consumer DVD players," said Steve Jobs.
"This has been an incredible new product year for Apple, so we dont
plan to
launch any new hardware products in Paris this year."

Analysis:

Rumors of updated laptops and new flat-panel iMacs are again swarming. Perhaps
after last month's grumblings, Apple decided to preempt the rumor sites in
hopes of not scaring off customers for the second half of the fiscal quarter.
One thing that may be announced could be Mac OS 10.1, as September 26
would be
the tail end of Apple's promised September ship date.
