the easiest way is to use DAVE, or netbios over tcp/ip. there is nothing to
install on the pc's, and it is very simple to configure on the mac side.

i have a windows 2000 workstation as server, with two ethernet cards,
another windows 98 video editing machine, a dying performa 6400, and my
beast, a powermac 9600. all connect perfectly to an HP 4L laserjet with
postscript translator print server, the internet, and to each other.

i was using MacSOHO, made by the same company. that works pretty good too,
but i have found DAVE easier because it uses the Chooser more seamlessly.

on the pc side, there is another option which didn't work for me at all,
which is the PCMacLan. This sets up your PC server as an AppleTalk server.
It didn't let me create any AppleZones on my Win2k. So I trashed it because
it doesn't work yet. I'm a musician, not a software debugger.
