What about the latest iMacs with built-in CDRW, is there an IDE converter
board separate available too (besides that I need to get that CDRW also too)

For the CD part the Toast CD Reader usually takes care of that. If the Apple
cd/dvd driver doesn't see the dvd drive than we could always try cd/dvd
Speedtools...

You have a picture of that IDE converter somewhere BTW?

Yeah, I know...

So you're saying that I have to get a used slot-loading cd/dvd drive which
Apple used in the slot-loading cd/dvd iMacs and then have to buy an laptop
style IDE converter board for about $20 to get it working, right? Sure, it
would be a nice engineering job, but the guy who owns the iMac doesn't need
dvd capablility, he needs burning capability. But I understand what you mean,
it would be easier to get a used slot-loading first generation cd drive which
contains dvd too than finding a tray-loading cd or even a slot-loading cdrw.
Why I want a cdrw for this iMac is because the cd drive in this 333 iMac is
toast and he was thinking of buying a cd burner so I thought it was possible
to combine these too. Otherwise I have to find a cd drive for that iMac, if I
can find one and hopefully close nearby (costs such as taxes and shipping)
and/or an external USB burner which is slow and not bootable...
Well, we'll see.
