I stuck with SCSI and got a couple of the 18gig Quantum Atlas 10k drives and
have never been happier.  No dropped frames in movies, no skipping in music,
just smooth operation over all.  I'm sure most will ask "what are you
planning on doing with the machine" and it really depends on the program you
run most.  I am, in all fairness, using them attached to an Adaptec 29160N
SCSI card that I bought really cheap off of ebay and that really helps to
pick up the transfer rate.  SCSI may not be the latest of technologies but
it IS a mature platform and dependable.  Just my 2 cents!
