You can get a program from www.macupdate.com called g3cacheswitch that 
will let you adjust the speed of your L2 cache independent of the DIPS, 
this would speed things up a deal if your cache is runing faster than 1/2 
CPU clock:) 

I hope you got one with a 1MB cache, it makes a HUGE difference...

Also, www.otherworldcomputing.com has a utility on it called 
'UnsuppourtedUtilityX' which does just what you might think...it allows 
you to install Mac OS X onto 'unsuppourted' machines like the 7xxx/9xxx 
models, which you just happen to have. I personally feel Mac OS X is the 
SHIT, so I thought I would tell you if you ever wwant to make that move. 
I've used this program tons so let me know if you want help with it.
