Just got my new HD (IBM Deskstar 61GB) and am gathering information
on how to install. This is my first install of a hard drive and it
didn't come with manual. But UltraTek card, IBM website, and
accelerate yor mac website has provided me with enough pictures that
I think I can handle this. I have installed easy things like PCI
cards and RAM and I'm not shy about poking around inside my computer.

Now my question: Everyone on this listserv has said to use Apple
Drive Set-up to format new drives. Should I ignore the software that
came with the UltraTek ATA card? What do you do with RAID? I know
this probably sounds dumb to most of you, but I really don't know. Do
I format it with the Apple Drive Set-Up and then do further
formatting with RAID?

Thanks for help.

Carolyn
