Well, for a change I would start by taking a good look at all the
software I'm using, and be honest with myself.
Is this program legal or 'loaned' software, did I pay the
sharewarefee,... and for sure I would be getting a better feeling of
myself once all these 'problems' are out of the way. In one straight
move, I would also update some apps from 'LE' to 'full' status, now I
have the money.

Second, I would look at myself when I'm using the Mac. Wouldn't it be
more comfortable in a better chair, at a desk that isn't supported by two
beercases, do I have enough, or too much light at my workplace,...
Most of the time I'm at the computer just reading on the screen, or
listening to music I just mixed, or viewing webpages, and for that, I
don't need a G4.
Even with the fastest computer on earth, you won't be reading any faster,
and a three minute song will still be ...three minutes.
But I will be sitting very comfy !

Third, I would invest some money in things that I've grown accustomed
too, but are getting (or will be) more and more difficult to replace. For
example the adjustable keyboard you're using. Buy a few for reserve,
before you break one and can't find a replacement immediately.

And after these three things, I would see if I really needed a faster Mac.
If that's the case, I agree with some others, and suggest you'd go for a
G3 B&W if you can live with 3 slots less.
Otherwise, get your friend a Mac, or your parents, or whoever you love
but hasn't got a Mac !!
After all, the money just came "all-of-a-sudden" in your pocket...

greetings
