I just realized that you're probably talking about copying and 
pasting from something besides a list-post so my lame answer probably 
doesn't help much.

Out of curiousity, what type of source are you trying to quote from?

I'm fairly sure that you can't post to the list using any kind of 
fancy formatted or styled text or font. If the settings in whatever 
program you're using to do your email is set to allow this type of 
stuff in or out, then I would think that is likely your problem. I'm 
pretty sure the lists only allow plain text. The fancy stuff, I'm 
assuming, hogs too much bandwidth.
