Older versions of the OS (7.5 and earlier IIRC) had a volume limit of
a couple of Gig, which was not bad considering that when the OS was
released a 400 MEGabyte HD cost upwards of $1000. With OS 7.6 and
later, you can have a single volume in the Terabyte (1024 Gigabytes)
range. Make sure to format it as 'Mac OS Extended' as this will
allow the OS to make better use of the larger volume.
