I was having this problem a while back, and running the MS Internet
Self-Repair program didn't seem to help. A friendly computer geek told me
that the self repair program doesn't re-install all new components, just
missing ones. So what I did was delete the extensions that IE5 had installed
in the system folder, create a new IE5 folder with the installer, then ran
the self repair. That seemed to do the trick. I didn't delete prefs or
bookmarks.
