There are a couple of cards that support IDE drives in a Mac PCI 
slot.   One place to start is Xlr8's 
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/IDE.html#controllers IDE controller card 
info.   To support CDs, DVDs, and/or burners the device must be fully 
ATAPI compliant.
