It is compatible. What do you mean by 'pinstripes'? When I upgraded my 7300 to a G3, the internal video was too slow for the CPU and areas of the screen the system was updating very fast broke down into a pattern of horizontal flickery lines (such as the number of files left when I empty the trash).
