For RAM in an 8500, EDO or FPM makes no difference because the 8500 
can use them both.   I'd head to OWC or Velocity Upgrades and pickup 
1 or 2 128MB DIMMs (for $30 a piece) and if necessary replace your 
8MB DIMMs.
