I think you need a little adapter to go from the monitor's 15pin 
cable to the Mac. This adapter has a bunch of dip-switches to set 
depending on the monitor, for multi-sync use. I use such an adapter 
for my Sony Multiscan, which has been used on a 7100 an now an 8500.

The Power Towers, and other clones were made to the non-Apple 
monitors directly.

If you can't find the adapter locally, the the mail order places.
