Yeah, isn't that the truth.  As a physics major, math minor, I haven't 
used my calculator (TI-89) for anything more than basic arithmetic 
('cause I'm too lazy to add, and my arithmetic stinks because I've 
always had a crutch) in at least 2 years.  Every now and then it comes 
in handy to do a graph or slope field, but even that is pretty rare.  
I've actually stopped taking it to class.  Instead, I bring a solar 
powered scientific calculator (in case I need to use trig functions).  
Much more handy.  And plus, I don't have to worry about losing the 
$100 or so to replace the TI if it were stolen (like my original 82) 
or lost.
