To exorcise the demons from your computer:
Restart your Mac holding down the Option and Command buttons, the two buttons
to the left of the Space Bar.
This will rebuild your Desktop File and things will improve. This will cure
many types of demonic possession.
Do this once per month, more often if you mount a lot of CDs that have
software on them.
