I shut it down overnight, started to play with it in the morning and it seemed to be behaving. I installed OS 7.5.5 from the 8500 CD and it seems to be happy.
The 604e has double the L1 cache, and should be much faster, not to mention they have the higher multipliers, and that is where the clock speed is improved. Still runs 40-50? MHz bus. I have my 9500/120 overclocked to 50 MHz bus (150 MHz overall now) and it is as stable as a rock. I hocked a 50 MHz osc out of a 385 DX/25 I had laying around. Nice of Apple to have both foot prints of the osc layed out in the processor card PCB. I am told 52.5 is about as fast as you can go on a 604 processor (at least mine) when overclocking. OE Enablers has the osc modules, and pretty good prices. And they are still in business and more than willing to help.
