re-posting this post, as i got no replies. update: the driver is ok as far as i can see, and figured out how the chooser ext. and INIT have to be together to load, but it seems to be either a bad cable, the SCSI chain from the ext. HDD is bad, or the scanner needs to be terminated. but, i have NO info on how to terminate this scanner, there are only DIP switches. the freeze up still happens, but only sometimes.
hi listers, i found (yes found) this OLD scanner. it's an AVEC colour 2400, and i've looked ALL over the net looking for the driver. i finally found one on an older site, but it seems stuffit expander (or deluxe) doesn't like the archive, since they gave me a "corrupt file" error. so i checked all over, and finally found a relisys (the co. that bought avec) site, but they have almost nothing mac there. so i went looking some more. i found a relisys/avec compatible driver, but whenever i choose it in the chooser, the mac freezes, and i have to force quit/restart (3-finger restart). system: OS 8,6; 24 RAM/ VMed to 88; original h/w 7500/100. send help! :-) simon -- ---------- "As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live" -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
