Yes, the card and all of the connected USB devices should be listed 
in the 'Devices and Volumes' tab.

Have you installed the USB drivers from Apple?   From Apple's 
software area http://www.info.apple.com/support/downloads.html search 
for 'USB Adapter Card' and you should find it.  FWIW, I use a 
Logitech USB mouse and the latest software under OS 8.6 and it works 
fine.
