I have a 6100 and I am having trouble getting this 12x CD rom pulled from a 7300 to mount CD's consistently. I can get it to mount CD's by pulling the scsi cable to CD rom and startup without the CD rom . Now when I re-attach the scsi ribbon to CD rom and startup again, it will mount the CD. But the next time I start up again it doesn't.
The problem seems to be with this Apple Quantum ProDrive Lt 700mb Hard Drive because when I install this Seagate 4 gig hard drive, the CD rom seems to consistently mount CD's. It's hard to find any info on Apple hard drives but I did find some info on Quantum ProDrives and it says Pro Drives do not use jumpers to determine termination. The only jumper it has is on "PO". Anyone have any ideas on why my CD rom will not mount CD's. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
