Hi David,

As I was writing in another post PPC604 and PPC604e
are different beasts, so even though the 604e is
backward compatible and works with older logic boards,
I am not very sure whether a 604 would be "forward
compatible", i.e. work with a LB designed for a newer
CPU (604e).

It definitely didn't work for me, a perfectly working
(in a PowerWave 120 and 7500/100) PowerComputing
132MHz 604 CPU module wouldn't boot at all in either
an 8600/200 or a PowerTowerPro 200 (both normally
using a 604e@200).

Someone might contradict me, or the 7300 might have a
mobo designed to run both processors, let's see how it
goes.

Good luck with it,
HTH
Cheers
Andrea

P.S.: Oops, just realised you appear to have a
604e@150, weird, but if that is true it would be the
first time I hear about it. I thought all 604s under
180MHz or possibly 166MHz were 604 and not 604e
processors. Curious now!

P.S II.: Happy Easter to everybody.
