I am running OS8.1 on a 7500/G3 @270 MHz. My browser of choice is Netscape 4.7.6, which works very well for me for nearly everything. I am trying to efile my taxes using TurboTax and am having problems. It runs through all the data preparation but when it tries to connect I get the error message "Unable to process request (1513)". Last night the TurboTax chat guy finally told me that I HAD to use IE5.5 (sic). So I downloaded IE5.1 (the latest version available for Macs) and while it runs, it won't connect to any servers. I get the error message "The specified server could not be found". I selected the appropriate proxy in preferences (I connect to the internet through a dial up to my employer's network). It works great with Netscape but I have never been able to get IE to connect. I have searched through all the preferences but cannot find anything that I can change to make it work. Anybody have any ideas? I would appreciate direct replies as I am on digest mode.
