Do you have more VRAM in the 4400 than in the 7500?
That might explain the differences in possible resolutions
and the number of colors that can be displayed.
VRAM for the 7500 is usually for sale on eBay for aroound
$10 per megabyte.  You'll need to add another 2MB if you have
only 2MB in there now.
